Residents of Namasanda village in Musikoma ward are up in arms over the manner in which police officers attached to Bungoma police station have failed to respond to distress calls by residents over escalating assault cases that have left many people maimed without prompt action from the security agents.
Speaking to the media today Martin Juma Sibachi a victim of panga attacks by unknown assailants said that no police officer has visited the scene of crime yet even after reporting the attack at the police station immediately and wondered why the police had taken long to commence investigations of what transpired then.
Sibachi said that he was amused by the way the police officers and the area chief Chrispinus Barasa had down played the attack even after he reported to the chief and the police an individual who had threatened him hours before the incident over a land deal gone sour.
The heavily bandaged and stitched middle aged man escaped death narrowly when unknown people stormed his house at around 8 pm and slashed him with pangas inflicting him with serious multiple injuries and chopping off his left ear and two fingers before leaving him unconscious, bleeding profusely.
“No officer has visited the scene of crime for the past one week and yet we reported the matter to police and obtained OB no. 07/21/2016/01011 and the police have not commenced investigations yet,” said one relative who sort anonymity.
