Police officers in Likuyani Sub County are holding in custody a middle aged man in connection with the growth of marijuana in Lusweti village, Likuyani location
Confirming the incident Soy Sub location assistant chief Bonvanture Lugado said police officers attached to Likuyani station led by the OCS Samuel Akori who were on crack down on illicit brew and other drugs raided the compound of Manasse Amwai where they found bhang estimated to fetch over Kshs 100, 000 .
He said the officers destroyed hundreds of bhang stems growing on a section of a one acre maize plantation.
“Acting on tip-off from village elders and members of the public, the officers raided the compound of Mr. Amwai where they found and uprooted the cannabis which had been planted in the middle of a maize plantation,” explained Lugado.
He said the officers also managed to corner and arrested the owner who is being held at the Likuyani police station waiting to be arraigned in court.
The local administrator has issued a stern warning against consumption of outlawed drugs vowing to beef up government’s efforts against the vice in the area.
