Consultative Forum Members Caucus from Nandi led by their Chair Dr. Christopher Seurei have asked political leaders across Nandi County and the entire nation at large to shun away from divisive and inciting politics during this electioneering period.
Addressing journalists in Kapsabet town, the Caucus claimed that majority of political leaders in the region have a tendency of misusing the young generation for their own selfish interests urging them to avoid such vices and instead preach peace and cohesion ahead of the August polls.
“Use of hate speech and inflammatory statements among the political class pose a threat to political stability of the public thus all the political leaders should shun away from such dangerous statements,” Seurei stated.
They called upon the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and both governments to ensure there is a lasting solution for such cases in order to maintain peace during and after the August general elections.
They decried use of youths politically to damage their opponents’ campaign posters and disrupt meetings through heckling which is wrong, appealing to youths across Nandi to avoid being used politically to execute wrong deeds.
They also asked the Ministry of Interior and security apparatus to ensure peace prevails ahead of the August polls and also during the party nominations.
Moreover, the Caucus directed the Media to exercise objectivity in their daily duties.
