Religious leaders across the country have been encouraged to continue praying for the country as it is preparing for August polls.
Speaking during a meeting that brought together religious leaders across Bumula Sub- County in Mwiyenga village, the chairperson of Bishops in the Sub -County, Bishop Martin Sikuku urged politicians to conduct peaceful campaigns as he also wanted Kenyans not to accept to be used by politicians for their selfish interests to cause chaos in political rallies or other public functions.
Other religious leaders who also attended the function said that the church cannot be inseparable with politics, since to elect a leader who respects the word of God will automatically respect the law of the land hence good leadership.
Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga who hosted the religious leaders in his home urged his opponents and other political leaders to involve in peaceful campaigns as he wanted them to respect fellow leaders while campaigning for various seats.
He however appealed with the church to continue praying for the country and political leaders so that August 9 General Elections are conducted free and fair hence get leaders who can stir development for their people.
He used the opportunity to send his message of condolences to the family of Rabai MP who passed away on Sunday after he was involved in a road accident when he was going back home from presenting his documents to the IEBC offices in preparation to defend his seat in the August polls.
