Pregnant mothers in Sirisia Sub County have been urged to visit clinics at least four times for antenatal care.
Speaking in Sirisia after the meeting with Community health volunteers and Birth Companion team, Sirisia Sub County nurse Mr. Maurice Masinde said pregnant mothers are supposed visit clinic for their own good and unborn babies.
Masinde added that death rate of mothers while giving birth has reduced after the hospital came up with a program involving the CHVs, Birth Companion team and boda boda operators who have played a key role in saving lives.
He also said the hospital has managed to hit its target after the introduction of Sirisia Linda Mama pack by the management where by mothers are given a package of basin, diapers, 1kg of sugar and tea leaves after delivery.
“Sirisia hospital management came up with that program to add on what the county government of Bungoma gives to mothers to help sustain themselves for at least one week after delivery,” said Mr. Masinde.
Sirisia Sub County hospital administrator Mr. David Mukhaye said the hospital purchased the ultrasound machine to help mothers who have been travelling to Bungoma referral hospital to seek for the service.
On the other hand, Mukhaye cautioned the residents against flouting Covid-19 rules adding that so many people have been infected and died without visiting health facilities.
“I want to plead to our people to be careful and follow the ministry of health guidelines which include washing of hands, wearing of face masks and keeping social distance,” Mr. Mukhaye said.
