A pregnant woman is nursing injuries at Bungoma referral hospital after a nineteen year old girl poured hot water on her.
Speaking to westfm.co.ke, Chwele chief in Kabuchai constituency Henry Munyole, said that the feud erupted after the girl who had been working at one of the local’s house as a house help, accused the five month pregnant woman of publicly condemning her for sleeping with other women’s husband.
According to the chief, the girl boiled water at her employer’s house, went straight to where the woman was narrating the story and cruelly poured hot water on her.
He said that the incident happened on Wednesday at around six o’clock in the evening when both the husband of the victim and the boss to the house help were not around.
“The courageous girl did not run away after the horrific incident, she instead went back to the house and locked herself inside. When one of the neighbours arrived, he alerted the public.” Mr. Munyole said.
Mr. Munyole explained that the woman had burnt to around 30% and is recovering from Bungoma referral hospital.
Though the girl was saved from the angry mob by the village elders, she was severely beaten and taken to police custody.
However, the chief asked the area residents to arrest the culprits when an issue arises rather than taking the law into their hands.
While citing the recent incident where a young man was also poured on hot soup by one of the hoteliers at Chwele, he urged the residents to embrace unity and peace to foster the economy.
He further challenged them to evaluate the house help to curb loses that might be caused by them.
The girl had already been arrested and taken to Chwele police station where she is awaiting to be taken to court.
