President Uhuru Kenyatta who is also the commander in chief of the defense forces has sent condolences and encouragement to relatives and friends of a sponsor and KEPSA Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) advisor Mr Keli Kiilu who died on Friday. In his message, the President said that Kiilu was a transformational leader whose ideas contributed greatly to the well-being and growth of small and medium enterprises in the country. “Mr Keli Kiilu was a real patriot who loved his country. He had a strong sense of caring for Kenya and devoted all his knowledge and ideas to the growth of our economy and contributed significantly to Kenya’s vision of achieving the highest economic levels,” said the President. Kenyatta said that the late Kiilu was the great champion of the East African Community and helped to mobilize the private sector in the region to benefit from the opportunities involved in the economic development of the region.
He said he was the foundation and the pillar of the Council of Commerce in the East African region where he made sure that the private sector and trade unions played an important role in driving the EAC through trade and investment. He also noted that Kiilu played an important role in establishing a diplomatic relationship between Kenya and developing nations, He was one of the Kenyans who created the Free Trade Market in Africa with the aim of improving trade among continental nations. We will always remember his prudent leadership in strengthening the small and medium business sector as a tool for economic growth,” said the President.
President Kenyatta prayed on God to give the family of the late Kiilu the strength and resilience to face the tragedy especially during this difficult time of mourning.
