President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged Bungoma County residents to vote for an all-inclusive leadership which Jubilee offers. While speaking in Webuye, in Bungoma County, the President said leaders hailing from the different regions in Kenya are already in places of leadership under Jubilee, “When you look at Nairobi County, the Governor isn’t Kikuyu, Kalenjin, but he is a Kamba. The Nairobi Senator comes from Western Kenya, same to the Nairobi County assembly speaker, true or false?” he posed.
He said that Jubilee is an inclusive party that doesn’t incline to tribal politics, “We should not do tribal politics, we want a leadership which will bring us all together like Kenyans,” he said, urging NASA leaders to drop tribal rhetoric.
He defended the push to amend electoral laws, something he had already done earlier in the day in Busia, “When CJ Maraga delivered the ruling, he highlighted some problems in the system, including the fact that some returning officers and presiding officers didn’t sign vital documents, therefore, is it bad when leaders in parliament try to bring changes to address the issues?” he posed.
He added that the changes will address issues that led many to say the Jubilee leadership is led by computer-generated leaders. “Instead of going to parliament to discuss and table their grievances, NASA leaders opt to go for demonstrations, yet changes are made in parliament,” he quipped.
Furthermore, President Kenyatta said opposition leaders should respect the date set by IEBC for fresh presidential polls, adding that no leader has the right to bar Kenyans from voting, given that elections are about Kenyans and not leaders. President Kenyatta affirmed that Kenyans who voted for them will still support them, “When we heard the verdict by the supreme court to have repeat presidential elections, some of us were disappointed because we knew we had clearly won, but because we respected the court’s decision. We said that the Kenyans who supported us then are still here, we’ll go back to them, and God will propel us to a win,” he said.
