President Uhuru Kenyatta has sacked Sports and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa in a Cabinet reshuffle. In Executive Order No. 3 of 2019, Education CS Amb. Amina Mohamed has been moved to the Sports docket, and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) chairman Prof. George Magoha has been nominated as the new Education Cabinet Secretary. Information Ministry Principal Secretary in charge of Broadcasting and Telecommunication Fatuma Hirsi has also been sacked.
In the Executive Order, President Kenyatta noted that he is committed to enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability at all levels of government through a governance structure and leadership that ensures rapid delivery of public services to Kenyans in every part of the republic, and conscious that review and reorganization of his administration is necessary to embed operational enhancements and functional changes that shall ake Ministries, State Departments and State Agencies better able to deliver on their mandate.
Principal Secretaries have also been reassigned, and they are; Ms Susan Mochache to the Ministry of Health, Mr. Ali Noor Ismail-State Department of Cooperatives, Dr. Ibrahim M. Mohamed-State Department of Environment and Forestry, Eng. Peter Kiplagat Tum-State Department of Labor, Dr. Margaret Mwakima-State Department of East African Affairs (EAC), and Dr. Susan Koech-State Department of Wildlife.
