President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged NASA leaders to accept the full verdict given by the Supreme Court regarding fresh polls. The Supreme Court nullified President Kenyatta’s August win and called for fresh polls within sixty days, with the set deadline being the end of October. “We are wondering why our competitors are saying they won’t take part in the polls if their demands aren’t met. If you were happy and celebrating the verdict given by the Supreme Court saying we should have fresh polls within sixty days, also be content with the decision they laid out that the repeat election must be managed by IEBC,” he reiterated, “You wanted the decision so you take the full decision.”
While addressing women supporters at State House, the President further said the electoral law reforms are meant for good, contrary to what other leaders may say. He said MPs closely analyzed the Supreme Court’s verdict, pointed out the flaws and decided to push ahead with the reforms. “My competitor said his votes were stolen through computer-based modes, no wonder the MPs said that for example if it’s Garissa, all votes must be counted by the Presiding officer and announced by him or her at the centre,” he said, adding that all forms must reach the national tallying centre before the final announcement is made.
He expressed his confidence that Kenyans will once again vote for him, after his initial victory, saying they will traverse the nation to sell their agenda once again and urged the women supporters to also join them in the course, “We know Kenyans will do what they did on August 8th once again,” he affirmed.
