President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a cheque worth Kshs. 200 million to the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) to cater for their workers’ salaries. The President, who was accompanied by Deputy President William Ruto, also opened a bull station at Endebess Sub County during his tour of Trans Nzoia County. “For those who’ve been working at ADC and haven’t been receiving their salaries, am giving out a cheque worth Kshs 200 million, and starting next Monday, they should go to the Corporation to receive their money,” said President Kenyatta as the crowd cheered.
The Head of State also appealed to the locals to embrace the modern methods of agriculture. He said they should engage the Agriculture Officers in the County to provide them with relevant information that will help them to improve their yields. “We understand that this is the bread basket and farmers within this County need sufficient help to improve their activities,” he said. He also urged residents to use the bull station well.
He assured the residents who normally use the Endebess road towards Suam border of Uganda that the construction process is on and they expect a better road which will ease transportation between the County and the neighbouring country of Uganda.
Concerning the issue of importation of maize, the President assured farmers within the County that the importation was only seasonal, adding that the government will not import excessively to affect the local farmers’ market.
Deputy President William Ruto faulted the opposition for lacking an agenda for the nation, and instead, they’ve resorted to tarnishing the gains made by the Jubilee government. He said the leaders also had a position of power in government previously and didn’t avert problems, citing that there was a hunger crisis between the year 2009 and 2011 when NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga was the Prime Minister.
His sentiments were echoed by Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, who blamed the opposition for politicking every day without giving tangible solutions they have for Kenyans. He called upon the residents to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy President William Ruto.
