President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit out at NASA leaders for being perfectionists by trying to convince Kenyans that the Jubilee government has not fostered any development projects, especially in Western Kenya, terming them as liars.
Speaking at Amtalla stadium in Kimilili during his first tour of the County after his election was nullified by the Supreme Court, President Kenyatta said under his tenure the Rai paper mills is on course to be fully revived and sugarcane farmers in Nzoia, as well as Mumias, have been paid their dues.
He also disclosed that several roads are under construction in the region and called upon the opposition leaders to be sincere that the Jubilee government has been able to deliver on its promises and called upon residents of Bungoma County to support them during the forth coming general election.
The President further said his government will be all inclusive saying he respects the decision of the people of Bungoma County for having voted in Wycliffe Wangamati as their second Governor but said Ken Lusaka is now the speaker of the senate and is the third in command in the country and should be respected.
Regarding the IEBC, the President urged the NASA coalition to let the institution and its commissioners prepare and carry out the forthcoming elections saying Kenyans are not ready to bow to external pressure.
“Even your Senator here in Bungoma County was elected under a system that was held by the same IEBC officials and he is now lamenting, let him resign if he thinks the system is no longer credible to carry out any election,” he said.
Deputy President William Ruto also weighed in on the issue and called upon residents of Bungoma County to vote for Jubilee government in the forthcoming election saying it is the only sure government that will deliver on its promises.
Kimilili MP Didmus Wekesa Barasa urged the President to oversee the tarmacking of Kimilili-Nasusi–Chesamisi road as well as elevating the Matili Technical Training Institute to a University, saying residents are yearning for such development activities.
He, however, thanked the President and his deputy for supporting Ken Lusaka to be Speaker of the Senate, saying people will reciprocate by voting for them in large numbers during the forthcoming election.
Some of the leaders who accompanied the President include Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, MPs John Waluke (Sirisia), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West) Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East) Bernard Shinali (Ikolomani) among other leaders.
