President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated Jubilee are preparing for the repeat polls on October 26th and has urged Kenyans to pray for the country as a result of the prevailing political situation. While addressing the press at State House, President Kenyatta said he believes in the rule of law and they will fulfill their constitutional mandate as Jubilee by taking part in the polls, “The path we have taken since the Supreme Court decision hasn’t been easy for our country but we thank God for seeing us through,” he said, “As we walk towards the 26th October polls, as a government we believe in the rule of law, and it’s our duty to fulfill our constitutional mandate.”
He said Kenyans should observe an extended period of prayer this weekend, which will culminate on a prayer day on Sunday, “After consultations with religious leaders I’ve reached the decision to call on Kenyans to pray for our country in their mosques, temples, and churches culminating on a national prayer day on Sunday.”
The President further outlined that the nation must be rededicated to God, saying Kenyans should pray for all the leaders across the political divide that they may be granted wisdom and that they may love peace and justice. He notably didn’t address the resignation of IEBC Commissioner Roselyn Akombe, which has rocked the nation with few days remaining to the set October 26th polls.
