Bungoma County governor Kenneth Lusaka told the President that the people of his county will always support him and make sure they work together as the national government and the county government to embrace development.
“Mr. President we are so grateful, for the projects that you have brought us, now the people of this county know that you were not just saying it when you came for my homecoming but that you are a man of action, the relationship between the two governments is important, that is why we will always support you,” said Lusaka.
He spoke at Kibabii University College during the function when the institution received its charter.
Before upgrading, Kibabii was a constituent college of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology.
He said the residents expected more from the national government saying the university will help more in economic empowerment.
“I want to say thank you and I being the first governor congratulate you for being the first chancellor of Kibabii University,” he said.
Lusaka said the people of Bungoma County will not forget what the president has done for the county saying the students are ready to make sure the university shines and goes to greater heights.
The area MP Mr. Attanus Wafula Wamunyinyi thanked the President for deciding that Kibabii University College should get the instruments of becoming a fully fledged university.
He said the president being the chancellor, there was no expected fund problems because he was available all the time.
“I requested you earlier that we as leaders would like to expand this university to other different places,” said Wamunyinyi.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula said as Cord they will always be critical of the government saying they do so not because they hate the President,
“Mr. President when we criticize your government, that doesn’t mean we hate you but we intend to make you do it better, and criticism should never be seen as enmity” Said Wetang’ula.
He said he respects the leadership of the president and his government.

“I am here for the good of our County and this is another one additional point to the educational progress of development in our republic, I now know this is not a County University but a National University and we want to see more students enroll in this university,” said the senator.
Speaking on behalf of the Cabinet Secretaries present, Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugine Wamalwa said history had been written in Golden letters in the county.
“I am very happy to see the joy on the faces of everyone who has come here today to witness this historical day,” said Wamalwa.
He said it was an honour for Bungoma County as the University was the first one the president was giving a charter and also being its first Chancellor.
“We say thank you your Excellence for bringing all the projects to this county, we say thank you for commissioning water in Sirisia and Chwele, we are grateful for everything and we would like when you come again to Western region to see you open other Universities in different counties,” said the CS.
