Presidient William Ruto on Monday morning assented to the County Governments Additional Allocation Bill.
The assented bill provides a total additional allocation of Kshs. 46. 3 billion to counties for the FY 2023/24.
Out of the Sh. 46.3 billion, additional allocations from the national government’s share revenue of Kshs. 10. 1 billion has been set aside for the implementation of key projects and promotion of the Bottom up Transformation Agenda in the Counties.
The projects include Sh. 5 Billion for the Provision of Fertilizer Subsidy across 47 Counties to bolster food security.
Further, 18 Counties will get Sh. 250 million for the implementation of the Aggregated Industrial Parks, totaling Sh. 4.5 Billion.
The Bill has also set aside and allocated Kshs.454 million to five Counties for the construction of county headquarters offices and a further Sh. 165 million for the provision of Library Services.
To enhance Own Source Revenues, Counties shall also benefit from unconditional allocations from Court fines and Mineral Royalties amounting to Kshs. 3. Billion.
