President Ruto puts the record straight during interfaith thanks giving service in Busia County

Busia County on Sunday played host to President William Samoei Ruto during the County’s interdenominational (interfaith) thanks giving service held at the Busia Stadium.

The interfaith team was moderated by ACK Katakwa Diocese Bishop John Okude who is also the County’s coordinator.

In his address, President Ruto thanked the people of Busia for conducting a peaceful meeting unlike the other times when he faced hell during his Presidential campaigns.

” Thank you very much the people of Busia for maintaining calm in this thanks giving service”. He said, adding amid cheers ” The last time when I visited I was met with a lot of resistance.” He however said he came to say thank you for the few votes he garnered in the last General Election.

”I have come to say thank you for the votes you gave me however few they were because I know I will get more in the future. ”

The President’s mood was however changed by Busia Senator Okiya Okoiti Omutata who threatened to go to court if some sections in the controversial 2023 finance bill were not addressed by the President.

“I have come a long way with you Mr. President and you know that. But let these leaders not fool you here, some sections in that finance bill are against the constitution.” He said amid uproar from the public.

‘” I respect you as my President but I respect the constitution more than you.” He said fearlessly

President Ruto however asked the Senator to go slow on him since he was only working for the benefit of the Hustlers.

“Please ask your Senator here why he is bitter with me. Why is it that he failed to go to court when leaders were busy wasting people’s resources with issues with BBI and others?”

‘‘I want the hustlers to get jobs, new houses etc that’s why I want everybody, especially the wealthy to also pay taxes.  The President added.

He asked those with payslips to stop misleading Kenyans on the issue of house taxing.
