President William Ruto today joined the faithful of Mt. Elgon at Cheptais Boys’ High school grounds for an Interdenominational Prayer service, Bungoma County, in a ceremony involving various religious denominations.
He promised to initiate the construction of a market in Cheptais which will cost 350 million shillings, and 50 million shillings for the Kipsigon market. He also pledged to complete the construction of Cheptais Secondary School.
In his address, President Ruto spoke about the dissolution of the ANC party and its merger with the UDA party, emphasizing that the move was not aimed at creating divisions or working against any particular community or region. Rather, he said, it was about fostering unity and promoting the greater good of the nation. The President pointed out that the political collaboration’s goal was to ensure prosperity for all Kenyans, regardless of their background or location.
“We are not uniting to divide, but to build a stronger and more prosperous nation,” Ruto stated. “This is about the future of our children and the well-being of every Kenyan citizen.”
He also took the opportunity to encourage locals to register for the Social Health Authority (SHA), an initiative aimed at providing affordable and reliable healthcare to more Kenyans. The President underscored the importance of collective participation in nation-building and the need for widespread involvement in the SHA program.
Addressing the issue of youth unemployment, President Ruto assured the crowd that his administration was committed to creating more job opportunities for the youth. A key part of this initiative, he said, was the affordable housing program, which, alongside other economic strategies, would focus on uplifting the youth and ensuring they have sustainable livelihoods.
“We are committed to creating opportunities for our youth, particularly through affordable housing projects and other national development programs,” he affirmed. “Last year, 200,000 youth got jobs outside Kenya. That is how we are going to provide opportunities for our young Kenyans,” Ruto said
Furthermore, President Ruto called for unity in the country’s political landscape. “We want a politics that unites all Kenyans because we all have the same destiny as Kenyan people,” he said. “Even beyond unity, we are not just forming a government, but we are extending our hands to those we were competing with, not for selfish gain, but for the benefit of transformation, development, and justice for all Kenyans.”
He also highlighted some practical initiatives aimed at regional development, particularly in border areas. “We will build a border post at Chepkube market. Instead of smuggling, we will collect taxes. I am going to instruct the Ministry of the Interior, and the Cabinet Secretary should prepare and build the border post.”
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula urged President Ruto to disregard his opponents, expressing his confidence in the government of President William Ruto.

Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi also attended the service and voiced his strong support for the dissolution of the ANC party, stressing the importance of working together for the nation’s progress. He assured the people that the government remained focused on inclusive development that would benefit all regions of Kenya.
