In a significant reshuffle of his cabinet on Thursday evening, President William Ruto has appointed Kipchumba Murkomen as the new Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government. According to the announcement through a gazette notice signed by Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei, the President has also made several key changes to other ministries.
Mutahi Kagwe has been appointed to take over as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock, while Lee Kinyanjui has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary for Investment, Trade, and Industry. William Kabogo has been appointed the CS for Information, Communications, and Digital Economy. Additionally, Salim Mvurya has been moved to the Ministry of Youth, Talent, and Sports.
As part of the reshuffle, several key officials have been reassigned to diplomatic roles. Andrew Karanja, the former CS for Agriculture, has been appointed Ambassador to Brazil, while Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u, who previously served as the CS for Information, Communications, and Digital Economy, has been appointed Ambassador to Ghana. Dorothy Angote has been assigned as Ambassador to Zimbabwe.
Other key appointments include Kembi Gitura, who has been named Chairman of the Kenyatta University Teaching, Research, and Referral Hospital Board, and Nderitu Mureithi, the former Governor of Laikipia, who has been appointed Chairman of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board of Directors. Antony Mwaura has been appointed Chairman of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA).
These appointments reflect President Ruto’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency of the government and strengthening Kenya’s representation both locally and internationally.
