A sorrowful cloud has grazed Munyuki Village, in Lumakanda location, Lugari sub county, Kakamega County after a grade four pupil was defiled before being brutally murdered and her body dumped in a trench on the road side
According to the victim’s mother, Veronica Wabomba, the 11-year-old Esther Ayuma who schools at Spings of Hope Academy left for school as usual on Thursday and never returned that evening prompting them to launch a search in the neighborhood unsuccessfully before her body was discovered Friday morning with serious injuries on her private parts.
“While continuing with the search, I received a call from authority that my daughter’s body was lying in a water trench near the road,” said the mother.
According to Stephen Juma, this is not the first incident of girls being killed in a similar manner.
“Just recently we buried another girl who was killed in similar manner. It seems there is a gang who is targeting young girls by defiling them before killing them,” he noted.
The deceased’s grandfather Mr. Chailu Mulanda called on police to intensify patrols and speed investigation to help the family get justice.
“Safety of our children is at risk. The people doing this must be apprehended as soon as possible,” he said.
The assailant left a note on the deceased’s body threatening to kill more members of her family claiming to be on a revenge mission for being denied love by one of her parents.
Lugari MP, Ayub Savula who visited the scene condemned the incident and asked police to investigate the matter, arrest suspects and ensure the family gets justice.
Police officers from Lumakanda station removed the body and took it to Kimbilio mortuary in the neighbouring Uasin Gishu County as they launched investigations into the incident.
