Unknown people in Nandi who were found demarcating part of a one acre piece of Kapsabet showground land, were expelled and chased away by angry residents. Led by Kapsabet ward MCA Fredrick Kipkemboi and his Chemundu ward counterpart Robert Kirwa who is the chair of the committee on lands, they said a private developer had ordered the fencing of the piece of land without their consent and not even the County government of Nandi was aware of the demarcation.
It is alleged that the private developer had obtained a notice from the Kapsabet police station and the area chief to fence the land.
They cited that the private developer had been unknowingly given part of the livestock stalls to erect a chicken slaughter house, and the residents demanded to know who was behind this scheme.
The 2 administrators lamented that bringing a private developer to the public land was a scheme to grab that parcel of land and blamed Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and the Agriculture CEC Bernard Lagat. Theey have called for answers from the County government of Nandi concerning the whole idea and have resolved to lead peaceful demonstrations in Kapsabet.
