Bungoma County Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries CEC Mathews Makanda has proposed that the Bungoma County government should be dissolved citing a streinous relationship between the legislature and the executive. In an exclusive interview, Makanda said that from the revelations in the past few months it is evident that there is no good will between the Bungoma County assembly and Governor Wycliffe Wangamati’s administration.
He said there are individuals in certain leadership positions who think they can hold the Bungoma government at ransom saying it is very unfortunate. He exuded confidence that so far as a government they have done a lot in relation to their manifesto saying if elections are to be held today they are sure of emerging victorious again. Makanda said it is provided for in the constitution for dissolvement saying the Members of the County Assembly will also have to get to the ballot again.
This comes few weeks after Maeni ward MCA Florence Wekesa was ousted as majority leader and her position taken by Tuuti/Marakaru MCA Joseph Nyongesa. Political pundits say the changes in the assembly leadership were pegged on a sour relationship between Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula and Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.
