Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to politicians and citizens who vandalize properties during demonstrations that they will face the wrath of the law.
Speaking in Mulolongo in Nairobi while on his tour at the vandalized Express Way during the Wednesday demonstration called by the opposition, Murkomen says demonstration is not the right way to push the agenda of lowering prices of basic commodities.
“We will ensure that any leader of citizen involved in vandalizing people’s property through demonstration face the wrath of the law,” said Murkomen
Murkomen has also noted that in collaboration with all stakeholders including the security department, they have put in place all measures to ensure no property vandalization is done during demonstrations saying that those involved in vandalizing properties will be held responsible.
“I have talked to the Inspector of Police to assign police officers in every corner of the nation who will handle protesters mercilessly if involved in vandalizing of properties in our country,” he warned
He has assured investors that the government will protect the development projects they are implementing, adding that the government has allocated funds to develop the construction of roads in different parts of the country.
“The government of Kenya will ensure that all property including the ExpressWay vandalized is in good shape and am urging all investors to continue with the construction of government projects especially roads which is one of the key areas the government is interested in and has set aside money in the budget to ensure its construction in different counties,” he added
