More than one hundred and sixty pupils of Musembe primary school, in Mbakalo ward of Tongaren Sub County are a happy lot after they received tablets from the Ministry of Education to aid them in their learning activities under the digital literacy program.
Speaking at the school after the official launch of the program, the school’s headmaster David Kisiangani thanked the government for having piloted the digital literacy program saying it will help the pupils to fully grasp what they have learned.
He said the world is currently in a digital era and having started the program in the school pupils will be assisted in their learning activities due to the several application programs installed in the tablets saying it is indeed a good initiative by the government.
However, he called upon the government to ensure a steady supply of electricity in the school saying the gadgets will highly depend on electricity to operate and since they don’t have an alternative power supply they will largely depend on the current supply.
His sentiments were echoed by area assistant chief Joseph Nyongesa who said there have been several experiences of power outages in the area and with the school having acquired the gadgets they need to have a steady supply of electricity.
He also called upon parents to support their children by ensuring they reach school on time and also encourage them to work hard in their studies as it will help them to have a solid foundation in their lives.
Mr. Nyongesa also took the opportunity to caution the public against following incitements to cause chaos during this electioneering period saying anyone who will be found culpable of any offence will face a full force of the law.
He further called upon political candidates to carry out their campaigns in a peaceful manner and to abide by the rules of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
