A 28-year-old woman from Sisokhe village, Navakholo sub county in Kakamega County who delivered quintuplets at Kakamega County referral hospital, will receive help from the Kakamega County government. Evelyne Namukhula who is a mother of nine now, gave birth to three girls and two boys weighing between 1.5 kgs and 1.9 kgs.
Speaking to the press, Namukhula said she feels relieved of the weight she was experiencing during the pregnancy, and thanked God for the blessing. The County government of Kakamega through CEC Racheal Okumu has confirmed that the mother will be enrolled under the Oparanya Care program where she and the babies will be supported financially besides the NHIF program that targets the needy.
Namukhula and her husband Herbert Wawire are not employed and thus had asked Samaritans to extend a hand of help for them to be able to raise the children. The doctor in charge Githinji Ndugu confirmed that both the mother and the babies were in good health. He said the condition could be hereditary and revealed that the mother was referred from Navakholo sub county hospital expecting more than two kids.
