Heavy rains have wrecked havoc in Nairobi City County, leaving several areas flooded. Residents were stranded as they entered the city given that the rains started very early in the morning. Several roads were heavily affected and commuters had to look for ways to beat the tough conditions. The roads and avenues which were affected include Forest Road, Uhuru Highway, Globe Roundabout, Juja Road-Pangani, Mbagathi Road, Ojio Road, Ngong Road among others.
The poor drainage system in the County had raised eyebrows before, with residents calling on the County administration to deal with the below par systems. Earlier in the week, the weathermen had forecasted that heavy downpour will be experienced in different parts of the county this week and had urged Kenyans to be vigilant.
