Trans Nzoia County governor Patrick Khaemba called on residents of the County to demonstrate against leaders he said are opposed to the ongoing construction of the referral hospital. He said politics has infiltrated the process surrounding the construction.
He said this while at Kolongolo Girls Secondary School, where he revealed that several people are behind the wrangles pertaining the construction of the referral hospital, adding that there aim is to fulfill their selfish gains. He said the hospital doesn’t belong to him built it belongs to the people of the County, who need better healthcare.
Khaemba said the residents of the county can’t afford the persistent trips to the referral hospital in Eldoret, and he called upon citizens to support his noble task.
He further blamed Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa for allegedly advising President Kenyatta wrongly concerning the title deeds issue, arguing that Wamalwa wants to gain a political mileage in the region. He said 88,000 title deeds for the residents of the county have been processed.
His sentiments were echoed by Tongaren MP Dr. Eseli Simiyu and Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi who criticized a section of leaders for the involving political games in the construction of the referral hospital and asked residents to support governor Khaemba in his task. Eseli said several politicians are fighting Governor Khaemba for their own selfish gains and promised to support Governor Khaemba as the next governor for the county, and he also appealed for the citizens to re-elect him next year during the general Elections.
He said as Ford Kenya party they are going to make sure that all the projects that Khaemba has initiated are fulfilled and give him an upper hand in the next general elections as developmemt records will be evident.
However Kiminini MP Dr. Chris Wamalwa opposed the sentiments made by his Ford Kenya counterparts saying the referral hospital that Khaemba is constructing did not meet the standards required and the procedure used by Khaemba in the construction and purchase of the intended hospital land is questionable.
He said Khaemba is going against the court’s ruling and that the money that he bought the referral hospital was less than what he stipulates in public.
“According to the purchase price of the farm on which the referral hospital stands, Khaemba bought the land at Kshs. 25 million and claims it cost Kshs. 185 million. This is corruption,” said Wamalwa.
He furthermore cautioned Tongaren MP Dr. Eseli Simiyu and Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi against interfering with Trans Nzoia County politics, labeling them as outsiders as he urged them to remain in Bungoma and solve problems affecting residents of Bungoma.
