Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has said that Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya’s reforms in agriculture will go on under the next government to ensure basic needs, especially food are availed to Kenyans citing that through President Uhuru Kenyatta, his efforts to continue the export of miraa to Somalia are successful.
Speaking to the residents of Meru County during the Azimio La Umoja campaign rally, Raila promised the residents that within the first one hundred days in office as President, he will ensure the expansion of the Isiolo airstrip to boost direct transportation of miraa to Mogadishu and Kinshasa.
“I told President Uhuru to go to the inauguration ceremony of the current President of Somalia to speak to him about the exportation of miraa and he accepted. He invited him to Nairobi two weeks ago and he requested to speak to the incoming President and I gladly spoke to him. We agreed that the miraa business will start. We have found a solution to the miraa issue.” said Raila Odinga.
Furthermore, Raila said that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya is determined to fight corruption, poverty and illness, saying that his Baba Care agenda will ensure that healthcare centers are proximal and accessible to everyone. He added that children, women, youth and the aged will be covered under a medical insurance and that those who cannot afford the premium insurance will be catered for by his government to access medical care.
He added that single mothers will get help and education for the children from his government.
However, the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya flag bearer has bashed out his Kenya Kwanza opponent Dr. William Ruto for saying that Raila is afraid of them and the Presidential debate that was carried out on Tuesday July 26th, saying that he wants to meet Ruto on the ballot and not at the debate.
“On 9th August we’re meeting face to face on the ballot not in a debate. Am not interested in talking to a thief. That day will be the third liberation of Kenya.” Raila said.
He also said that Kenyans have the ability to liberate themselves economically and the decision to do so will be made on the August 9th elections.
