President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Nzoia Sugar Company in Bungoma County on the 2nd of August left the company relieved as he disbursed 500million shillings to the factory. He directed that 450 million should be used to pay farmers’ debts and the extra 50 million to pay company’s employees.
The president released the money as a bailout after the government disbursed another 500 million for farmers. This will be a boost to the factory which has been ailing for quite a while.
Uhuru further warned that the money should be used properly so as to ensure the well being of the company. ‘It is my wish that the money will be used to pay farmers and employees and we are not going to tolerate any kind of misuse of the money I have given out.” He said.

He directed that the management should disburse money to the farmers account by Friday, August 5 and assured Kenyans that the millers operations will resume on 7th of August.
Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati thanked the [resident for his directive and noted that it will boost the company and relieve sugarcane farmers in the region.
