Religious leaders welcome ICC case termination
After the ICC judges ruled that there was no sufficient evidence for Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua Arap Sang’s case to continue religious leaders from Kimilili sub County have expressed their optimism that it is now a turning point for Kenya to move on as a united nation.
Led by the chairman of the Kimilili pastors’ fellowship Bishop Cleophas Matete they said the termination of the case was something they had been praying for saying the deputy president and journalist Sang can now carry on with their duties diligently.
Bishop Matete said the post election violence that rocked the country was something that would not be wished to be repeated saying Kenyans have learned to forgive one another and the termination of the case is an indicator that Kenyans are ready to move on as one nation.

He however called upon the government to ensure that those who were affected by the post election violence are compensated saying some of them have not yet been resettled and are living in deplorable conditions.

On his part ACK reverent Bartholomew Kapchanga said as a country Kenyans have learned to forgive one another and with the many forums of peace and reconciliation organized in areas that were mostly affected like Mt. Elgon people cannot accept to be involved in the skirmishes again.
Kapchanga called upon Kenyans to unite and continue living together in harmony saying the country belongs to all of them and the lessons learned during the post election violence should be able to help the country propel to prosperity and not division along tribal lines.
His sentiments were echoed by dini ya Msambwa leader Mwarie Malao who called applauded the efforts of the lawyers who represented the two saying they were sober enough to show the judges that they were innocent.
He now called upon the deputy president to focus on working for the nation and delivering on promises made during their campaign period when they were facing the charges saying the president together with him are now free to work for the people of Kenya.
However he called upon the government to take care of the people who were internally displaced and have not yet been resettled and for those who also lost their loved ones during the skirmishes saying they were baking on the ICC to get justice yet all the suspects who were said to have bared the greatest responsibilities have all been acquitted.
