Soy Sambu residents in Tongaren constituency have called upon the area MCA Gerishom Namasake with his bursary committee to publish names of students who have so far benefited from the kitty to ensure accountability.

Led by political activist Stephen Wafula Wamalwa the residents said the kitty was established to help needy but bright students as well as orphans to access education saying it is unfortunate that many who are in that situation have not benefited.

“Many of the needy students have been applying for the bursary fund for the past three years but have never benefited from the kitty yet their parents are in needy situations. ” he said.

He further called upon the MCA to also give out the names of the people who have been employed by the County assembly to work in his office saying as per now it is not clear who are the workers in his office.

Efforts to reach the area MCA for comments over the issues proved futile.

On the other hand he urged the MCA to push for at least five youths from each location of the ward to be employed by the Bungoma County government after it announced vacancies in several departments saying many of them have undergone training in different courses but are still jobless.

However he called upon residents of the ward to be keen in electing leaders as the next general election is fast approaching saying they will have an opportunity to access good leadership and development by electing leaders who are focused and have the residents issues at heart.

He called upon the youth who have reached eighteen years of age to ensure they have acquired identity cards and visit the Independent electoral and boundaries commission offices to be registered as voters saying it is the only way to salvage them from poor leadership.
