Residents of Pokot South Sub County have complained about the pathetic state of roads in the area. Travellers who were using the Saramee-Cheparten-Kaptabuk road in Pokot South Sub County yesterday faced an uphill task after vehicles were stuck because of the deplorable road condition. They say the situation repeats itself regularly due to the deplorable state of the roads.
Farmers and business people in Lelan ward, Pokot South Sub County incurred huge losses after the road was previously rendered impassable after heavy rains.
Travellers and residents said the road hasn’t been renovated and urged the County and national governments to carry out renovations.
They said relevant bodies should take swift action to effect repairs and upgrades to the access roads in their communities. They claimed the roads have been neglected by the relevant authorities for years.
“I’ve lived here for about 3 years now and these roads have always been a poor condition. It’s a sickening situation because when it rains, the roads are impassable,” said one resident, John Kibet, adding that access to the main health centre is also affected.
