Residents urged to take subsidized fertilizer
As the planting season kicks off Bungoma County residents have been assured of getting enough subsidized fertilizer as well as each ward 400 bags of free fertilizer to widows, widowers and other members of the society who are vulnerable.
Bungoma County public administration chief officer David Kibiti said the fertilizer has already been delivered to the cereals board in Bungoma and urged farmers to acquire it on time ahead of the planting season to achieve food security.
However he cautioned members of the society who are well off against using uncouth means to acquire the free fertilizer meant for the vulnerable in the society and called upon the ward administrators as well as other people in the vetting panel of the beneficiaries to ensure the legibility in the whole exercise. Kibiti further disclosed that the public administration department will be carrying out civic education across the county to sensitize the public on the services of the county government saying some residents are still not able to differentiate the county government from the national government.
Regarding the alcoholic bill passed by the Bungoma County government Kibiti said the law has not yet started being implemented until they inform the public well on how the law will be applied saying people ready to get in to the business must fulfill certain regulations.
“They must set up a selling point at a public place, it will be inspected by a board to ensure it fulfills all the requirements and have a valid license as well as operate within the stipulated number of hours as it has been set up” he said
Kibiti was speaking during a home coming ceremony of Pentecostal Christian Union Christopher Maindi at Bituyu in Kimilili sub County where he urged the church to also be on the front line to provide direction to the society against engaging in vices.
Political activist Pius Ndumba also took the opportunity to call upon the people of Bungoma County to work in harmony with their elected political leaders saying over engaging in political rhetoric’s has always been a downfall.
