Residents living along Eldoret – Malaba highway have been warned against looting from vehicles involved in accidents along the highway.
Speaking in Matete, Kakamega County Commander Joseph Kigen said it was disgusting to establish that both the youth and elderly spend most of the hours on the highway with a view to looting property from the vehicles especially at the stretch of the road between Mukhonje and Kaburengu.
The police boss added that it was also disturbing that most of the accidents were deliberately induced by the same culprits pointing that some of them even attempted unlocking mobile locomotives at steep slopes at Mukhonje and Chimoi.
This he noted had occasioned many accidents at the named areas leading to massive looting of transit property.
Kigen said the government had established a security patrol along the highway and warned that anyone who will be arrested will have to face the full wrath of the law.
The police commander advised area residents to engage in meaningful income generating projects instead of engaging in criminal activities.
