Eldoret Diocese Catholic Bishop Dominic Kimengich has called upon the government through the Ministry of Interior to restore peace in Kerio Valley by disarming those with possession of illegal firearms.
Kimengich cited that the government should be protecting the rights of the citizens by ensuring their safety, decrying the rampant killings in Elgeiyo-Marakwet and Baringo counties caused by bandits yet the government is not providing any solution to the killings that has left many lifeless in the region.
“I want to appeal to the government through the Ministry of Interior to provide security in Kerio Valley and conduct operations to disarm all the illegal firearms.” He pleaded.
The Bishop insisted on peace, urging residents to consider preaching peace all through for the betterment of their future generations adding that when there is peace there is unity.
He has asked the government to provide a lasting solution to the problem for the safety of the locals where many have fled their homes for safety.
Kerio Valley has been witnessing total insecurity due to banditry jeopardizing the lives of residents who have been living in fear for their lives as majority have been killed by these bandits.
