Learning has been disrupted at Botwa Milimani primary school in Cherangany constituency in Trans Nzoia County after a strong wind blew off roofs belonging to three classrooms. 90 pupils have been affected as a result.
While confirming the incident, the headmaster of the school Moses Malungu said the incident happened while the students were in their respective classes. The incident sent shockwaves among the pupils as teachers tried to calm them down. Some of the pupils were traumatized and had to undergo counselling to get a grasp of the situation.
The school has 500 pupils and started admission seven years ago. There are only four permanent classes which are shared by pupils from different classes. The headmaster appealed to well-wishers to offer their aid and assistance when it comes to building classrooms and provision of iron sheets. He said among the challenges faced includes inadequate number of teachers
Some of the parents who were at the school appealed to the area MP Wesley Kipchumba Korir to set aside some money for construction of classes that will help cater for the rising population of students at the school. They blamed the MP for constructing a water tank worth Ksh. 4 million at the school yet failed to cater for the poor infrastructure.
