Leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have revealed there are plans by a section of leaders to reconstitute the government so that ODM can occupy half of the cabinet and to have ODM leader be made Chief Minister in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government. The MPs were speaking at parliament buildings in response to an earlier statement made by MPs and Senators allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, who castigated Deputy President William Ruto for disrespecting the Presidency.
Led by Senators and MPs, including Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and MP Moses Kuria, they said Raila has gone back to his old tricks and the BBI is just being used to wage a partisan war. They said the ODM leader has even hijacked the national institutions to serve the opposition purposes.
They further affirmed that the Deputy President’s loyalty to President Kenyatta shouldn’t be doubted, instead, Raila is the one who used to call President Uhuru unpleasant names like a criminal, a thief, kifaranga cha kompyuta to name a few, “No one has sacrificed more for President Uhuru Kenyatta than DP Ruto. From the time Uhuru was MP up to now, Ruto has not only been his loyal friend but also a committed supporter,” they said.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria insisted DP Ruto isn’t resigning because he was not anybody’s appointee and was elected on the ballot. He added that President Kenyatta should stop beating around the bush and appoint Raila as Chief Minister if that’s what he intends to do, “We are also ready to go back to the ballot, we enjoy 80% of Kenya’s support,” said Kuria.
