Days after the IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati declared Dr. William Ruto as the President elect in the just concluded General Elections, Luanda town residents were seen rocking Kenya Kwanza alliance themed branded T- Shirts and carrying posters high in celebratory mood.
The declaration has since seen business in Luanda rise a notch higher with many entrepreneurs venturing into selling of branded merchandise in favour of the President elect. They sell T- Shirts, Framed pictures, posters and calendars which have the United Democratic Party (UDA) Party logo and pictures of William Ruto.
“I had stocked frames way before the declaration of the president elect, so when it was made official that it was William Ruto, I just printed pictures, framed them and started selling. Surprisingly the demand is high.” Brian Omega a Studio owner said.
In the market places, Mama mboga are seen going about their business selling groceries and vegetables alongside carrier bags branded in yellow , with Ruto’s portrait as the president of 2022. The carrier bags that are also available in wholesale and retail shops near the market are later sold to the clients who use them for packaging their shopping.
Those in branding business have made more profits from branding T-shirts for the Kenya Kwanza Alliance die hard supporters. Posters, calendars, notebooks, mugs and even wrist bands are among the most demanded products in the market.
“We’ve had people requesting for exquisite branding especially for T-shirts and the low key supporters who’d request for wristbands. The demand had been high especially after the declaration of the President elect,” said a cyber business owner.
