Sabatia Sub County elders are mourning the death of the upcoming politician Macleans Sloya who died while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
The late was one of the politicians eyeing the Sabatia parliamentary seat that is to be left vacant by the current Member of Parliament Alfred Agoi who is vying for gubernatorial position in the coming general elections.
“On our own behalf and of other elders not with us, we wish to express our heartfelt condolences to his devastated family, may the Almighty God grant them the fortitude to face the anguish of bereavement and the serenity to accept his passing and a future without his physical presence,” they said.
Led by their Chairman Bernard Chahilu they however rubbished claims being peddled by some locals that the late was killed, in an ill politically motivated move.
“We as elders condemn all the ill talk about Macleans being killed by some of our own. It is an abomination; we warn those who are reveling in and weaponizing Maclean’s death that their celebration can and will boomerang on them. What they wish for others could befall them,” they reiterated.
They noted that the culture demands that people should not speak carelessly on matters of sensitivity such as death.
“We call upon the community to discard such evil people and their plans to divide our community. We appeal to our community to always be guided by the principles of inclusivity, tolerance, moderation and need to placate bruised egos and shattered hopes,” they added.
They said they are people of faith and not superstitious.
