There was drama during the Mashujaa day celebrations in Saboti
constituency, Trans Nzoia County after Saboti MCA David Kapoloman confronted Caleb Amisi, the area member of parliament, after the two differed on development issues.
It took the intervention of County Commissioner Sam Ojwang who calmed
down the leaders. Fracas began when Amisi faulted Kapoloman, who had criticized his development record in his constituency and an unequal distribution of resources. “I am not like Kapoloman who goes to funerals to talk about me and my development record. I was chosen by the people of Saboti to represent them,” said Amisi. Kapoloman had also criticized Amisi over his inclination towards the BBI,
Amisi called upon the area MCA to avoid politicking in
funerals, and to stop spreading lies to the electorate concerning the BBI report. The function came to a stand still and the County Commissioner urged the leaders to respect each other.
Ojwang warned the leaders that he was going to take stern action
against any offender despite his or her status. He asked the leaders to respect each other and avoid confrontational politics before the attending residents, noting that the ongoing politics being peddled by politicians was unhealthy for the County.
He called upon all the elected leaders in the County to have a round
table to discuss issues affecting residents.
On his part, Trans Nzoia Governor Patrick Khaemba faulted leaders for engaging in bad politics, filled with hatred and rumor mongering, claiming they were headed to a wrong direction, which if not checked, might plunge the County into turmoil.
He said several leaders have been moving around the County spreading
propaganda and lies concerning other leaders. He also pointed out the use of social media for wrong purposes, notably as a media for hurling insults.
