Members of the Kimilili Jua Kali Women Sacco are elated after Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka fulfilled his promise of giving them a tent to kick start their proposed project of outside catering.
Speaking after the launch of the tent, the Sacco Vice Chairlady Lillian Kilui thanked the County boss for having kept his promise saying they will now start their project with ease and are looking forward to making extra cash on top other projects they’ve started.
She said after studying the gaps in the projects in the area they settled on the outside catering project saying many of the Sacco members being ladies, will find it easier to run the outside catering project in several events.
“We are happy that the governor shared our dream and we promise to work hard so as to uplift our lifestyles and be able to take our children to school through the project and also inspire other groups in the society to follow suit,” she said
On his part, the group monitoring and evaluation Officer Barasa Simiyu said they are focusing on expanding the Sacco further to also start other development projects which he said will be able to financially sustain the Sacco.
He said empowering women in the society is a step forward saying they are always keen to ensure every cent they earn is accounted for and are also wise investors saying they will be able to expand the business further.
The representative of the governor Joseph Mulama applauded the efforts of the governor to help the Sacco and called upon him to continue helping other groups in the County so as to fight poverty among the residents.
However, he called upon the electorates to also support the governor by giving him another term in office in the forthcoming general election saying there are several projects he has initiated in his first term and if given another chance he will fulfill more.
