Safaricom has introduced new user features for its customers, even as it celebrates its 19th anniversary. Under the slogan ‘Simple, Transparent, Honest’ Safaricom users will be able to buy data bundles with no expiry date. It had been the norm that dialing *544# presents options to buy data bundles, but with an expiry date, but the new format allows one to buy data bundles and calls and SMS with no expiry dates according to the amount one wishes to spend. The former option is still available though.
Speaking during an event to commemorate the Telco’s 19th anniversary, CEO Michael Joseph said the Safaricom shops countrywide will be reorganized to provide a better experience for customers, and that calls to the call centre will be answered in five minutes, or a prompt call back.
Furthermore, when a user dials *100#, an array of options to improve self service are presented, including access to M-Pesa details like reversal, M-Pesa charges, Fuliza, access to one’s PUK number, the ability to block the promo messages among others. One can also access home fibre services, self service and products including skiza tunes by dialing *100#.
From 1st November, new customers joining Safaricom will receive free SIM cards but they will have to top up with airtime of Kshs 50 to access services.
