Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has called upon President Dr. William Ruto and the opposition leader Raila Odinga to call their troops to order over the impasse surrounding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Addressing mourners in Mukhuyu village, Chekalini location, Lugari Sub County during the burial of Zakariah Mahiva, the husband to former nominated MCA Fridah Mudeizi Savula said the Electoral Commission is a fragile institution that must be handled with caution if Kenyans are to believe in its independence.
To gain the confidence of the country, Savula said the replacement of the outgoing IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati and Commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye must be handled in a manner that will exude confidence in the electorates.

Azimio allied MPs recently walked out of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee hearings that had initiated a process to eject the four Commissioners who disputed the results declaring Ruto as winner of the Presidential election, a move Savula opines is setting the stage for chaos.
He said Vice Chair Julian Cherera, Justus Nyang’aya, Francis Nderitu and Irene Masit should be allowed to finish their term so that their communities do not feel victimized, adding that President Ruto’s victory was upheld by the Supreme Court, and therefore it is his responsibility to unite the country.
