ANC deputy party leader who is also the Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula has refuted reports that the party is plotting a working relationship with Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Saturday when he led a food distribution exercise to vulnerable families in his constituency, Savula dismissed reports published in one of the major dailies concerning the ANC leaders meeting held at Musalia Mudavadi’s home in Nairobi alleging that the ANC party leader and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula had joined the DP’s camp with the heading “Ruto bags Mudavadi, Wetangula.”
Savula said the Friday meeting that brought together 26 members of parliament from Western Kenya never discussed anything to do with the deputy president stating it clear that Mudavadi and Wetangula had not been bagged by Ruto terming the report false and misleading.
“On Friday we held a meeting in Nairobi attended by 26 members of parliament from Western but shockingly what was discussed there isn’t what has been reported. I want to state that Mudavadi has not been bagged by Ruto,” said Savula.
He said ANC was consolidating itself by luring Jubilee and Ford Kenya MPs from Western Kenya led by Ford Kenya party leader to stand with Musalia Mudavadi in a strategy towards his bid for Presidency in the next general elections.
He added that the meeting majorly focused on branding Mudavadi as an ANC strong product for the Presidential seat in 2022. “We never discussed issues of Musalia or Wetangula supporting Ruto,” reiterated the lawmaker.
He said there aim is to unite the Western Kenya region before seeking support from other communities to attain their mission of ensuring that the region produces Kenya’s next President.
He revealed that Luhya MPs had agreed to work together and have arranged to go around every county drumming support for Mudavadi.
“In two weeks’ time I will be hosting the 26 MPs at my home in Manyonyi where Musalia and Wetangula will attend and we are inviting all other leaders from Western region including Eugene Wamalwa and Wycliffe Oparanya to join us because we want to form a formidable force,” said Savula.
The outspoken MP said they had advised Mudavadi to work closely with President Uhuru Kenyatta as he prepare for the 2022 elections adding that if Ruto swallows his pride and throws his weight behind Mudavadi he’ll be welcomed.
