Lugari MP Ayub Savula has urged the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi to forge a good working relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta for him to win next general elections. Speaking in his constituency, Savula said if the two leaders worked together they will form a force to be reckoned with ahead of the next general elections giving Mudavadi a better chance to lead the country.
The MP disclosed they-members of the National Assembly allied to ANC and Ford Kenya-will soon have deliberations on a strategy that will result to a working formula between the two leaders.
He said the leaders are committed to seeing Mudavadi eat into Uhuru’s vote rich blocks of Central and Rift Valley regions, arguing that it’s time for a Luhya to take up the leadership of this country.
Savula said Mudavadi and the Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula have already joined hands to foster political unity in Western Kenya adding that Musalia Mudavadi will keep on talking to other leaders like Kakamega County governor Wycliffe Oparanya who are interested in the Presidency, so that Western region produces one presidential candidate.
On Deputy President William Ruto’s Presidential bid, Savula said he should consider supporting Mudavadi come 2022 since all indications are that he (Ruto) may not be on the ballot and therefore his support to Mudavadi is welcome.
The MP has urged Deputy President William Ruto to consider issuing a statement to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on the multi-billion fake firearms scandal as the only constitutional body with the mandate to carry out investigations as opposed to issuing press releases to media houses.
He said the DP will not absolve himself from blame following criminal dealings in his office without recording a statement with the investigating agency.
He said immunity only applies to the President and therefore it’s prudent that the DP records a statement to give his side of the story, as opposed to talking to the press.
