The government has postponed the opening dates for Term Three in schools from August 26th to September 2nd to pave way for the National Census. The Census will take place on August 24th and 25th, prompting the one-week extension. In a statement issued on Friday, from the Basic Education and Early Learning Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) require minimum movement during the exercise.
“For the forthcoming census to be successful, it is the desire of the National Bureau of Statistics that there be minimum movements of the population so that they get as many people as possible in conventions.” The move comes after KNBS requested for an extension of opening dates.
