A section of Talai elders led by the Talai council of elders vice chair Mr Christopher Koyagi have said Deputy President William Ruto should consult them for cleansing or come under a curse after faulting his meeting and ritual session with other Talai elders on 5th June.
The team said that the Deputy President Ruto and his allies should follow the right procedure by involving all the elders from the Talai, Nandi and Kalenjin community at large and not just a section of them.
They lamented that the few elders who conducted the traditional ceremony for the Deputy President last week in a private home are traitors who wanted to suit their own political achievements. “The group which conducted the illegal ceremony in the wee hours against the Kalenjin traditions led by the Talai council of elders chair Rev. Bassy are scrupulous people moved by greed to suit their political ambitions.” They revealed that the cleansing ceremony should have been been conducted in public and in broad daylight not very early in the morning and not in a residential place. They said the DP should seek them to be cleansed.
