West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has called on responsible audit of County government by the Senate while accusing senators of witch-hunt.
Governor Kachapin said the Khalwale led Public Accounts Committee should remain objective in their Summons to ensure fair exercise to Governors.
Kachapin accused area senator Prof, John Lonyangapuo of using the Senate Committee to undermine his leadership.

The Governor who appeared before the Senate Public Accounts Committee recently accused Lonyangapuo of using the Senate Committee to fight him.
“Some senators want to run for governorship like my senator who is using the Committee to intimidate me. A senator cannot direct the office of the Auditor General what to do. This is an independent body,” he said.
Kachapin called on PAC chairman Dr. Boni Khalwale to ensure the committee exercise caution in their oversight role to avoid witch-hunt.
He accused Senator Lonyangapuo of using his position to settle his political agenda using the Senate Committee.
“The West Pokot County was among Counties with least audit queries but my senator (Lonyangapuo) instead is now demanding for audit of the County for two years,” he wondered.
Kachapin added that “Our financial books have been audited recently and this is open to the public as a normal procedure I wonder why the senator is doubting audit by the Auditor General office,”
The County boss revealed that the Senator has shown interest in the governor seat but should not use his position to settle his political woos.
“We do not fear public scrutiny because this is a constitutional mandate but senators should not use the exercise to intimidate governors,” he said.
However the Governor opposed a Bill seeking to reduce the number of the counties from 47 to 16 counties.
The Governor termed the bill unconstitutional and is a waste of time to Kenyans since it does not represent the interests of Kenyans.
“Reduction of Counties through an amendment is impossible because it requires a referendum to go through,” said Kachapin.
Governor Kachapin said marginalized Counties like West Pokot have only seen development during devolution and called on Kenyans to oppose the bill terming it unnecessary.
