Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli has taken the lead in an initiative aimed at distributing seedlings to empower the youth in planting trees across diverse Sub-Counties in Bungoma County.
The first Phase of his initiative saw the successful planting of 5000 seedlings throughout the Kanduyi Sub-County.
Today marks the continuation of his mission, as he sets out to plant 2000 trees in Siboti, Kabula, and parts of Kabuchai.
In his second phase, he aims to see 12000 trees take root and flourish.
He has urged Bungoma residents to collectively channel their efforts towards tree planting to combat the adverse impacts of climate change.

Senator Wakoli has joined Kenyans today in marking the National Growing Day where Kenya is purposed to plant 200 million seedlings according to President William Ruto.
Friday 10th May was declared a public holiday to plant trees and also be in solidarity with all persons adversely affected by the floods.
Kenya aims to plant 15 billion trees by the year 2032 as one of the measures to combat climate change.
Senator Wakoli faulted the former Governor for coming up with huge projects as a way of looting government money citing the construction of dual carriage and the Masinde Muliro Stadium wondering where the money allocated was, that is why the national government has taken up the construction.
He told Wangamati to prepare and face the Senate for failing to pay contractors leading to pending bills among other gaps in the government including the scholarship he said was dubious.
