Seven Namwela Boys students arrested as school is closed down indefinitely


The ministry of education has closed down indefinitely Namwela boys Secondary in Sirisia Sub County after a dormitory was burned down on Saturday night. Addressing students and parents school principal Mr. Simon Watamba said seven students have been arrested by police and will taken to court.

“Students were in class when the arson started at around 8pm, fortunately the police have managed to arrest seven students who are said to be the organizers” said Mr. Watamba.
Sirisia Sub County education director Mr. Andrew Mibei said the government will not release money to repair any building that was pulled down by students.

“Parents should know that they will be responsible for any damage caused by their children and no single cent from the government will be invested on such projects” Mr. Mibei said.
He added that the government will not relent on the  issue of school unrest until all the criminals are apprehended and face the full force of the law.

Mibei further urged parents to take the responsibility of  talking to their children and  teach them Christian values.
