A three-year-old baby in Kapenguria is caught up in a mysterious storm after seven sewing needles were found in her abdomen. The baby was admitted at Kapenguria County referral hospital in West Pokot County. An x-ray test confirmed that seven needles had been lodged in the child’s abdomen.
Dorcas Chepchumba from Kangilikwagan village has been having complications for one year now, and tthe symptoms displayed included stomach pains, coughs, and high temperatures.
Medics who recommended further treatment believe the needles were inserted in the child’s body, refuting the option that she swallowed them.
The baby who is being taken care of by her grandparents was left by her mother who escaped because of the frequent bouts of illness the child had.
The grandparents who’ve been taking care of her said they don’t understand how the needles found their way into her body.
Her grandmother said she was forced to rush the baby to the hospital to establish the root problem after they noticed she was experiencing unusual discomfort.
I was shocked to learn of the needles in her body after the x ray and I wondered how they found their way there,” said Mrs. Emily Ling’aa.
The poor family has revealed there is no cash to cater for the child’s treatment.
Speaking to the media,County Health Chief officer Mr. Ibrahim Longolomoi confirmed the case saying that the hospital administration has reported the matter to the police who are investigating and interrogating the baby’s parents.
